2 Food Recalls You Need To Know About This Week

It’s been a rough week for dairy products. Here’s why you should toss cheese curds sold at select Trader Joe’s locations and raw milk sold in Pennsylvania.

Trader Joe’s Cheese Curds Recalled for Listeria 

On June 20, Face Rock Creamery recalled its Vampire Slayer Cheese Curds due to concerns about contamination with listeria monocytogenes. 

Eating something contaminated with listeria can cause you to contract the foodborne illness listeriosis. This infection can lead to gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea and vomiting. It can also cause other symptoms, like fever, headache, and a stiff neck.

The Vampire Slayer Cheese Curds were sold at Trader Joe’s locations in northern California, including Monterey and Fresno, and northern Nevada, including Carson City, Reno, and Sparks.

Raw Milk Recalled for Sickening People in Pennsylvania

On June 25, the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture issued a warning about raw milk sold in half-gallon and gallon containers from Meadow View Jerseys Dairy. Testing revealed its raw milk had been contaminated with campylobacter, a bacterium that causes diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, according to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. Customers reported symptoms of campylobacteriosis after drinking the raw milk.

The state’s Department of Agriculture believes the raw milk was sold in four Pennsylvania counties: Berks, Dauphin, Lancaster, and Lebanon. Shoppers bought the milk at various retail stores starting as early as April 1, 2025.

Meadow View Jerseys Dairy wasn’t able to provide a current list of distributors, but check this list to see where the brand sold its milk in 2024. 

It’s unclear whether the dairy will offer customers a refund. Regardless, you should throw out any contaminated raw milk that’s in your refrigerator.
