Mornings are often a challenge in my house. My 15-year-old son would rather sleep in, but high school has him out the door several days a week by 7:15 a.m. Though I make him a quick, from-scratch breakfast when I can, his early start days often mean he needs to be able to grab something to eat on the way to school.
That’s where ALDI comes in, and recently, my favorite grocery store has given my rather-be-sleeping son a reason to look forward to getting up in the morning.

Why I Love ALDI’s Breakfast Best Mini Stuffed Pancakes
Strolling past the frozen aisle in my local ALDI, I discovered a new-to-me product: Breakfast Best Mini Stuffed Pancakes. For $3.99, each box comes with 12 ounces of stuffed mini pancakes, or about 10 per package. These beauties come in two flavors: blueberry and chocolate hazelnut. Each mini pancake is stuffed with more than a tablespoon of filling.
Even before you warm them up for a minute in the microwave, they smell delicious. The blueberry-stuffed pancakes smell of berries and vanilla. A tiny bite gives way to a gush of blueberry pie-like filling. The chocolate hazelnut pancakes smell of chocolate and hazelnut spread, and just like the blueberry pancakes, the filling oozes out when you take a bite.
“These are just so, so good,” my son told me. “They don’t even need any maple syrup.” Not requiring maple syrup means that these babies are great to warm up and eat in the car on the way to school, with little to no mess, as long as you wrap them in napkins.
My son loves both flavors, but his favorite is blueberry. My husband prefers the chocolate hazelnut, as he’s a big fan of Nutella. I like them both, but I’ve only been able to taste a bite of each flavor, as my son really doesn’t like sharing them, and my husband would hoard the chocolate hazelnut ones if I let him.
About five to six pancakes make a filling breakfast for my growing teenage son, but I think two to three pancakes would be an ample serving size for everyone else.
While these stuffed pancakes are really great for hectic mornings, my son also enjoys eating them after school as a snack, and he would probably eat them for dinner and lunch if I let him. I think it’s even possible to turn them into a trifle-like dessert if you layer them in a bowl with whipped cream, custard, and extra blueberries or chocolate hazelnut filling.
They’re so good, I hope ALDI adds them to their year-round offerings instead of just as a seasonal special.
