On June 3, Camerican International of Paramus, NJ recalled boxes of ALDI brand Casa Mamita Churro Bites Filled with Chocolate Hazelnut Cream in select stores nationwide. The recall follows a consumer report that the bite-size treats contain milk, which isn’t listed on the packaging. An investigation revealed the labeling error occurred during a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes.
Milk is one of the nine most common food allergies in the nation, so if someone were to enjoy this treat by accident, the consequences could be severe. Fortunately, no one has fallen ill from unknowingly consuming the frozen item.
