Late last summer, I was shopping at ALDI and, to my dismay, the Texas Toast was nowhere to be found. Unfortunately, my favorite ALDI clerk told me that it was gone for the season. That was a sad, sad day for my family. Anyone who shops at ALDI understands that some products are “here today, gone tomorrow,” but I didn’t realize that this family favorite was a seasonal item.
But last week was a happy day for my family when I discovered Mama Cozzi’s Texas Toast was back in the freezer, right near the frozen pancakes.

Why I Love Mama Cozzi’s Pizza Kitchen Texas Toast
Mama Cozzi’s Texas Toast comes in two flavors: Garlic and Five Cheese. A package of eight slices costs only $2.45. Though both flavors are delicious, my family hands-down prefers the garlic.
No matter which kind you choose, each comes with toast slices that are more than an inch thick and slightly bigger than my hand. The instructions call for warming them in a 425°F oven for about four to five minutes. You could also pop them in an air fryer for about the same amount of time. My 15-year-old son, however, disagrees with those methods. “They take way too long,” he says. Instead, he prefers to warm them in the microwave for 45 seconds.
If you follow the package directions, the toast comes out slightly crunchy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. If you microwave them, they also come out pillowy, but more chewy than crunchy. “I prefer chewy,” my son says.
No matter which way you cook them, the aroma of garlic will waft through your entire kitchen, and if you weren’t hungry before you cooked them, you will be by the time they are done. The garlic spread, which is flecked with green parsley, is thickly slathered on these toasts. And, to quote my son, “They taste like really good garlic bread.”
My son will eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but I think they’re especially great to round out a pasta meal, as you can dunk them in the sauce. They’re also a great base for bruschetta. Cook them, then top with diced tomatoes, minced basil, olive oil, and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar.
You can also serve them with fresh sliced mozzarella, tomato, and basil. Or you could eat half the package on your way to diving practice. But no matter how you use them, they’re delicious, and I recommend getting a package before it disappears again.
