Sprinkles are everything to my 3 and 5-year-old girls. We top everyday foods with sprinkles to make life a little more colorful and festive, whether it’s morning waffles or a scoop of ice cream before bathtime. Thinking back to the sprinkle-filled treats of my childhood, I knew my girls would love a homemade version of my most coveted of schoolyard snacks: Dunkaroos.
My healthy-ish twist on this treat uses Greek yogurt as the base for the frosting. Beyond the Dunkaroo connection, inspiration for this recipe came from an unlikely place: fitness influencers and their high-protein post-workout snacks.
Concoctions of yogurt or cottage cheese, protein powders, and baking mixes are popular among the gym-obsessed. I figured I’d keep my kid-friendly treat as simple as possible and narrow it down to just three grocery store ingredients: Greek yogurt, pudding mix, and, of course, sprinkles.

Key Ingredients
- For the best flavor and texture, I use whole-milk Greek yogurt here. Choose your favorite super-smooth Greek yogurt—Chobani, Fage, and Trader Joe’s brands all work really well.
- Jell-O brand instant pudding mix not only adds intense vanilla flavor and plenty of sweetness, its thickening agents transform the yogurt into a dippable, frosting-like texture.
- You can get creative with your choice of sprinkles. I’ve used the classic rainbow-colored, ice cream parlor variety, holiday-themed color combos, and my girls’ favorite, the confetti-style versions that include stars, hearts, or other fun shapes. Fancy Sprinkles makes some incredible ones, as does Kroger—their Ice Cream Sprinkles are a big favorite in my house.
Serving Suggestions
It could not be easier to make this snacky treat. All you do is mix up the three ingredients together. Then, it’s up to you to pick your dunkers. My girls have enjoyed graham crackers, animal crackers, butter waffle cookies, and, in a pinch, broken-up ice cream cones. Pretzel sticks make for a sweet/salty combo, and sliced apples are good, too.

How To Make My Confetti Yogurt Frosting
To make about two cups of frosting, you’ll need:
- 2 cups plain whole-milk Greek yogurt
- 6 tablespoons (half a 5.1-ounce package) Jell-O Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix
- 2 tablespoons rainbow sprinkles
- For serving: graham crackers, animal crackers, and/or sliced apples
In a mixing bowl, stir together the yogurt and pudding mix until thoroughly combined. Fold in the sprinkles. Transfer the frosting to a serving bowl and serve right away with graham crackers, cookies, or fruit for dipping.
The frosting will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
