Coleman’s New Cooler Is Coming to All of My Barbecues This Year

Coleman Pro Coolers

  • Price: $159 to $299 for the hard cooler, depending on the size
  • Why I Love It: This cooler is up to 30 percent lighter than similar coolers. The largest size has wheels to make carrying it easier. It can also keep food and drinks cold for up to four days, making it the perfect companion for backyard barbecues and weekend camping trips alike.

I’d say that 90 percent of the reason that my boyfriend and I moved into our current apartment was because of the building’s rooftop. In New York City, any extra space you can add to your usually small living space is a dream, and our building has a rooftop with a pool and two grills.

Even though we moved in during the fall of last year and didn’t get to fully experience grilling season in our new space, we have occasionally turned to each other during winter’s dreariest days and said, “Soon, we’ll be grilling at our poolside grill!”

Part of apartment grilling, however, is juggling all of your grilling needs as you head up the stairs (or elevator, if you are lucky). Think hamburgers, grilling tools, toppings, buns, cold drinks, and side dishes. That’s a lot for two people to carry back and forth. Enter: the new Coleman Pro Cooler.

When you live in a smaller apartment, you need everything in your space to serve at least one important purpose. Otherwise, it just takes up valuable space. The Coleman Pro Cooler goes above and beyond, acting as storage, a bench seat, a cooler, and a transport system to and from the rooftop.

Why I Love Coleman’s New Pro Cooler

With so many coolers on the market, you may be wondering what exactly the hype is about this new line from Coleman. For one thing, they are 30 percent lighter than some of the others on the market, which makes a big difference when it is full of ice, drinks, and burgers, and you need to carry it to your yard, car, campsite, or the beach.

The Pro Cooler line comes in 55, 45, and 25-quart hard cooler sizes. The largest size of the hard coolers has oversized rubber wheels, so you can trek through the woods or sand more easily. You might notice their similarity to certain Yeti coolers, which cost quite a bit more.

Ease is crucial when you are eating, drinking, and cooking outside of your kitchen, and while a cooler needs to be easy to fill and bring along with you, it also needs to be easy to clean once the party is over. The Coleman Pro Coolers have extra large drain plugs so you can drain melted ice even faster, as well as an antimicrobial liner to help prevent smells and mold. You’ll still have to clean it out yourself, but it’s a much more pleasant experience when you aren’t greeted with gross smells.

At a $159 to $299 price range, the Coleman Pro Cooler does what any good product should do for a hostess, camper, or grill master: it makes life a little bit easier. Being lightweight, easy to clean, and keeping everything inside cold for up to four days is exactly the type of multitasking that I want any new addition to my summer entertaining tool kit to do.
