The $1.25 Dollar Tree Find So Good I Went Back for More the Next Day

I must have walked past the Stuffed Puffs marshmallows at Dollar Tree at least five times. Sitting there on the shelf in their shiny, candy-colored bags, Stuffed Puffs Marshmallows looked like the kind of thing my kids would beg for. But I always thought, “Who really needs more marshmallows and sugar?”

Apparently, I do.

One day, curiosity got the best of me, and I tossed a bag into my cart. For $1.25, I was finally ready to see what all the hype was about. I took them home, popped one in my mouth, and immediately regretted not buying more.

These aren’t everyday marshmallows. They’re soft and fluffy with a creamy, flavorful center and dusted in a delicate crumble that makes them feel like a full-blown dessert. So, can you blame me for going back and buying three more bags the very next day?

  • Price: $1.25 for a bag
  • Why I Love Them: Stuffed Puffs taste rich and complex. They make the perfect little sweet treat, and I love using them in baked goods from brownies to Rice Krispie treats.

Why I Love Stuffed Puffs Marshmallows

There are regular marshmallows, and then there are Stuffed Puffs—a whole other level. The flavor is richer and more complex than I expected, especially for something I found at Dollar Tree. They come in so many fun flavors. I’ve seen the Birthday Cake, S’mores, and Cookies ‘n Creme flavors of Puffs at the Dollar Tree, but the Cookies ‘n Creme version is hands-down my favorite. It’s got an irresistible Oreo-like flavor and a delightful cookie coating.

My kids love them, of course. So, I’ll occasionally pop one into their lunch or snack boxes for a special treat. I’m also delighted to grab one or two after dinner when I want something sweet. But they really shine when it comes to taking my baking projects up a level.

How I Use Stuffed Puffs Marshmallows

S’mores are the obvious move. Since the chocolate is already inside the marshmallow, I don’t have to deal with melted bars. I can microwave one for ten seconds, and it turns into a warm, gooey bite of joy—no campfire required. But Stuffed Puffs are also a shortcut to many other fun baking ideas.

I’ve been tucking them into cookie dough before baking for surprise molten centers or dropping them into brownie batter, where they melt into the most delicious pockets. I’ve also sliced a banana down the middle, sprinkled it with some mini chocolate chips and a few cut-up marshmallow pieces, then wrapped it in foil and baked it for a quick “banana boat” dessert that my kids think I’m a genius for “inventing.”

For a special “Good Job, Mom” drink, I drop one of these into a mug of protein hot chocolate and get a slow-melting flavor bomb that’s miles better than dehydrated mini marshmallows. Rice Krispie treats studded with Stuffed Puffs make for a bakery-level, double-marshmallow situation.

If you’ve got a dessert recipe that could use a little upgrade, a Stuffed Puff or two will do the trick. I didn’t think I needed more marshmallows in my life, but these proved me wrong in the best way possible. Now, when I see them at the Dollar Tree, I never leave the store without them.
