The ALDI Freezer Find I’m Buying All Summer Long

The other day, my hubby called and asked me to make burgers for dinner. He sounded kind of desperate, as we hadn’t had burgers in a while.

So, I headed to ALDI to gather some ingredients. I had planned on buying ground beef, but then I spied something in the freezer section: Cattlemen’s Ranch Smash Burgers. I quickly stuck them in my cart.

Why I Love ALDI Cattlemen’s Ranch Smash Burgers

For only $7.99, you get eight, perfectly formed quarter-pound burgers—less than a buck a burger. That’s even a little less than what it costs to buy two pounds of ground beef, so price-wise, it’s a steal.

When I grabbed a box of these beautiful burgers, I picked up a package of Brioche burger buns as well as some mushrooms, onions, Gruyère cheese, and one of our family’s favorite bagged salads—Caesar.

When I got home, these burgers impressed me more. They were perfectly formed and carefully divided by paper, and I didn’t have trouble separating them, which sometimes happens with prepackaged burgers.

The burgers were also divided into two packages, each containing four burgers. I especially like that because if they were only in one package, I would have worried about some of the burgers getting freezer burn. Even with a 15-year-old son to feed, I don’t think he could eat that many at one time.

I also liked that the instructions said they could be cooked right from the freezer, so I didn’t have to spend extra time thawing them.

To make them, I simply sprinkled them with a little sea salt and black pepper, then baked them in the oven at 350°F. Meanwhile, I sautéed the onions and mushrooms. Then, when the burgers were almost done, I put cheese on two of them to make cheeseburgers for my hubby and me, and left two plain for our son. The burgers were done in under ten minutes, and I had dinner on the table just as quickly.

These smash burgers were so, so good. They remind me of the kind of burgers you can get at a specialty burger bar, but even with all the accoutrements I purchased, it was way, way less expensive, and they tasted just as good. I can’t wait to use them this grilling season!
