I Was Shocked When Trader Joe’s Stopped Carrying This Product—It’s Finally Back

Sometime this past summer, I went to Trader Joe’s and was shocked when I couldn’t find the shelf stable whipping cream. This is one of my all-time favorite Trader Joe’s products, ever.  It usually sits next to the boxed brownie mix, but sometimes you can find it on the shelf above the ice cream freezers. No matter where they stock it, when they stock it, I stock up.

So you could understand why I was so upset, I had to ask a Trader Joe’s team member what happened. When would it be back? She simply told me, “Sometimes, our products go on cycles.”

I was so disappointed. But guess what? It’s back in stock! I saw it at my local TJ’s this past week.

What’s So Great About Trader Joe’s Shelf Stable Whipping Cream

This shelf-stable whipping cream is exactly what it says it is: You can stick it in your pantry and grab it when you really need it. You don’t have to keep it refrigerated and it lasts a lot longer than fresh whipping cream.

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve wanted to make a cream sauce or a soup or even a no-churn ice cream with all the fixings, and then I realized I can’t because I don’t have cream on hand. So I either run to the local gas station that’s two minutes away and spend way too much money on a subpar cream, or I take the 10-minute drive to the grocery store for a total of 30 minutes, one ingredient I need plus a whole lot of stuff I don’t need.

Here’s another problem you may have encountered, too: I anticipate that I might need heavy cream, but I’m off by more than two weeks so by the time I reach for it, it’s gone bad. I’ve wasted money and food, and I still need to run out to get some.

Trader Joe’s has solved the conundrum with this amazing product. It’s there when I need it and it doesn’t go bad if I don’t use it right away. This shelf-stable whipping cream comes in a one-cup container and it costs $1.99 each, so it’s easy to stock up. I usually grab two or three at a time.

Though I missed having this product in my pantry this summer, I’m so grateful it’s back in stock now, right before the holidays hit.
