For as long as I’ve been baking, King Arthur has been one of my kitchen safety nets. Even from Canada, I’ll pick up its products every time I cross the border because they are reliably good. Its flours are the ones I reach for when I don’t want to take any chances, and its mixes have never once let me down.

Last year, the brand released a line of bread mixes that can be made from start to finish in about an hour. Bread in an hour is basically unheard of. The Flatbread Kit even won one of Simply Recipes’ coveted grocery awards. And honestly, it’s no surprise people love it.

So, when I learned that King Arthur released a Buttermilk Biscuit Flour Blend I knew I had to try it. Listen, I love a scratch biscuit, but do I love the part where I have to pull out my food processor (my best-results method) and weigh and mix the ingredients while my kids shout about who got more strawberries? No, I do not.

Luckily, King Arthur’s biscuit blend promises the golden, flaky, soft-in-the-middle biscuits I crave, with none of the morning math or mess. Just add butter and milk (or cream, for easy drop biscuits), and you’re halfway to a biscuit sandwich.

Why I’m Excited About King Arthur’s Buttermilk Biscuit Flour Blend

The mix is made with unbleached soft wheat flour, baking powder, salt, and, yes, real buttermilk. It’s everything I’d use at home, but it’s already perfectly blended. At $9.95 for a 2.5-pound bag, it’s also a solid value for something I’ll reach for constantly. Quality and time savings are two things I deeply value in this season of life, and I know they’ll deliver on both.

I already have a running list of things I plan to make with it, including breakfast sandwiches (obviously), peach and strawberry shortcakes, pot pie topping, soup dumplings, and other meals that simply need some semblance of pastry or bread to round them out. And because it’s from King Arthur, I know it’ll deliver on texture, rise, and flavor. If King Arthur says it’s a biscuit mix worth making, I believe them.
