OREO Just Released a New Limited Flavor—It’s the First of Its Kind

I’ve never really been much of a pretzel guy. When I was a kid and pretzels were put out during a birthday party or holiday event it always felt like someone was trying to pull a fast one by sneaking a bowl of dry, dusty, twisted up knots of crusty adulthood in amongst the chips and cookies, and even now, in adulthood, my opinion hasn’t changed much. But, enrobe them in chocolate, and suddenly the game changes.

Chocolate-covered pretzels are by far one of the favorite snacks in my household, the kind of thing we deliberately pack for day trips and airplane rides and try to make sure is always available in our pantry. So when OREO announced that their next cookie sandwich would be exactly that—a layer of chocolate sandwiched between two discs of pretzel-flavored cookie—I knew I had to try them.

What Makes These Cookies Different

OREO has been releasing limited-edition cookies for years, but according to the brand, this is its “first-ever sweet and savory cookie.” While the flavor of the cookie as a whole captures the marriage of chocolate and pretzel, the company has tried to capture the pretzel texture, and the cookies, much like pretzels, are dusted with salt. This makes them a bit different from your typical OREOs, which lean more toward the sweeter side.

Chocolate Covered Pretzel OREOs debuted May 5th online and nationwide. Prices vary depending on the retailer, and right now you can buy these limited-edition OREOs online at Walmart for $4.88 and at Target for $5.29. Act fast, though, if you’re interested in putting these into your snack rotation, as these new treats are only available for a limited time.
