On May 1, 2025, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that SharkNinja, a producer of many popular kitchen appliances, is recalling about 1,846,400 of its multi-function pressure cookers in the U.S., 184,240 of which were sold in Canada.
The recall follows 106 reports of burn injuries, including 50 incidents involving second- or third-degree burns to the face and body. Twenty-six lawsuits have been filed to date. According to the CPSC, the issue is the appliance’s pressure lid, which can be opened while the unit is still pressurized, allowing hot contents to escape and increasing burn risk.
The recalled multi-function pressure cookers were sold nationwide from January 2019 through March 2025 at major retailers including Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, and Target, both in-store and online, as well as on Amazon and www.Ninjakitchen.com. These cooking appliances retailed for about $200.
If you purchased an OP300 series replacement pressure cooker lid during this time frame, it may also be affected and is included in the recall.
