The $1.59 ALDI Find I Buy 6 at a Time

For the past several years, every time I was parched when out shopping at ALDI, I would grab a bottle of PurAqua Italian Sparkling Mineral Water. Unfortunately, the water didn’t come in four or six packs (I checked!). They were only sold in small single bottles in the refrigerator found just before the checkout line to tempt people like me, who worked up a thirst while shopping.

But recently, I discovered that my favorite ALDI checkout refreshment is now available in a bigger size.

ALDI PurAqua Italian Sparkling Mineral Water

  • Price: $1.59 for a 25.5-ounce bottle or $4.29 for six 16.9-ounce bottles
  • Why I Love It: I love the clean, refreshing taste of this Italian sparkling mineral water. It has a slight minerality and light bubbliness that reminds me of Pellegrino—but at a much cheaper price.

Why I Love  ALDI’s PurAqua Italian Sparkling Mineral Water

The reason why ALDI’s PurAqua Sparkling Mineral Water became my usual checkout line buy is that it reminds me of Pellegrino—but it’s way, way cheaper. The single 16.9-ounce bottle version used to cost nearly a dollar, and the giant 25.5-ounce one costs just a bit more at $1.59.

Per ounce, not only is it cheaper than the checkout version, but it’s also far less expensive than Pellegrino, which costs close to $3 for the same size. After I discovered the giant glass bottle version, I also found a six-pack of the smaller bottles for $4.29, but I personally love the glass bottles.

Like Pellegrino, PurAqua Sparkling Mineral Water actually comes from Italy. The tiny bubbles dance on my tongue, and it tastes so clean and refreshing. It’s the exact kind of water that my nieces Briana and Sloane call “sparkle water” instead of sparkling water.

I can drink this sparkling water straight pretty much all afternoon when I get thirsty after writing or carting my teenager to his various sports practices. My teenage son can chug an entire bottle in one sitting, so I usually try to hide this mineral water in the refrigerator behind a stack of leftovers.

How I Enjoy ALDI’s PurAqua Italian Sparkling Mineral Water

With its slight minerality and lovely effervescence, it is absolutely fantastic dressed up with a squeeze of lime or lemon. And speaking of lemon, if you combine the sparkling mineral water with some freshly squeezed lemon juice and simple syrup, it makes the best sparkling lemonade.

I also love it as a base for cocktails and mocktails. It’s perfect for a mojito, and I love it in whiskey and gin highballs. I think it would also be a great addition to a sparkling cosmo, too. If I’m going the mocktail route, I like it with cranberry juice, a squeeze of lime, and a drop or two of lime essential oil.

I also think it makes a great base for a no-jito, especially if you muddle some blackberries. In any case, I am just thrilled that I can enjoy this mineral water beyond the checkout line.
