If I had to choose only two burger toppings for the rest of my life, they would be, without question, mustard and dill pickles. I’m the person who asks for extra pickles on everything and keeps a jar of them in my fridge at all times.
So, when I discovered that Trader Joe’s Dill Pickle Mustard exists, it felt like the universe finally understood me. I was also shocked that I hadn’t heard about it until now, especially since it is a fan-favorite.
Trader Joe’s Dill Pickle Mustard
- Price: $1.99 for a 9-ounce bottle
- Why I Love It: This seasonal steal from TJ’s combines my two favorite summer flavors, mustard and pickles. I add it to everything from hot dogs to potato salad.
Why I Love Trader Joe’s Dill Pickle Mustard
Trader Joe’s Dill Pickle Mustard is a perfect marriage of two of my favorite things, and the combination creates a familiar and exciting flavor profile. If you’re a pickle lover, one squeeze onto a hot dog, and you’ll also be officially obsessed. (Fun fact: According to TJ’s, it’s even made by a real-deal fifth-generation mustard maker!)
This condiment doesn’t mess around with artificial pickle flavoring: It includes finely diced pickle pieces, which add an authentic pickle taste and a delightful texture that a simple flavoring couldn’t achieve. It’s bold and zesty without being overwhelming, and it has a nostalgic summery quality that makes things taste better. I don’t want to sound too dramatic, but it might be the greatest mustard combination of all time.
The vibrant and tangy flavor makes it perfect for hot dogs and burgers straight off the barbecue, but it also elevates classic sides, like potato salad and vinaigrettes for a crisp salad, into something special without any extra effort. Plus, at just $1.99 for a 9-ounce bottle, it’s an incredibly affordable way to add some zing to my meals.
The downside: It’s seasonal, so it’s even more precious. I heard somebody joke that pickle lovers everywhere start hoarding bottles like it’s the apocalypse—and I get it.

How I Use Trader Joe’s Dill Pickle Mustard
This pickle-y mustard seems to have been made for summer grilling, which is likely why TJ’s brings it out seasonally. Beyond the obvious, I’ve used it as a marinade for grilled chicken and spread it on salmon before baking.
I also love using Trader Joe’s Dill Pickle Mustard as a spread for sandwiches, especially with turkey and aged cheddar cheese. It makes a fantastic dip for chicken tenders or pretzels when I’m looking for something zippy. (Sometimes, I mix it with some mayo or honey to give it more depth and creaminess.) And recently, I’ve been putting the mustard in my egg salad and deviled eggs (it’s the best).
There are seemingly endless ways to use this mustard, and I keep finding new ones. Each time I do, it confirms this condiment deserves a permanent spot in my refrigerator. But, since it’s only available for a limited time, this pickle lover (me!) is stocking up this year.
