The $14.99 Aldi Kitchen Tool I’m Using All Summer Long

Fresh juice is the best, bursting with flavor and nutrients. But if you’ve been buying fresh juices, you know they cost a pretty penny. Looking to indulge your craving for the freshest flavors by making your own juice? You can spend hundreds of dollars on a juicer, but if you want to keep it simple, then you’re currently in luck: Aldi has a new Crofton Juice Press.

For $14.99, this is an affordable tool for juicing citrus and softer fruits and vegetables. As a bonus, the sales of the juice press benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Children’s Cancer, and Aldi even hosts Lemonade Stand events in stores.

  • Why I Love It: This affordable manual juice press costs a fraction of the price of brand-name tools. It works quickly and efficiently, and I especially love its small footprint so I can keep it on my counter.

Why I Love Aldi’s Crofton Juice Press

Small Footprint

Because this juice press stands vertically on a 4 1/2 inches wide with a 7-inch deep base, it can be easily left on the counter when not in use. Pick your favorite color (white or blue) to go with your décor. You’re more likely to use it if it’s not stashed away in a deep cupboard.

Great for Citrus

This kind of press is built for citrus. Just place the juice cup in the holder under the press and set the juicing plate on top. It works quickly and efficiently on oranges, lemons, limes, or any variety of citrus that fits.

To get maximum juice, first roll the fruit on the counter under your palm, pressing to burst some of the membranes inside and free the juice. Then, cut it in half across the equator and place it on the juicing plate. Use the lever to lower the press and squeeze the fruit, then raise the press and turn the fruit over in the press and squeeze it again to get a little more juice out.

This is a handy way to make a glass or two of pulp-free juice for breakfast, or juice a few limes or lemons for a recipe.

A Good Multitasker

While it really is an excellent citrus juicer, you can also use it for other soft fruits and vegetables. In summer, when watermelon is everywhere, try cutting the flesh into chunks and pressing it through this juicer for a refreshing and hydrating drink. When pomegranates are in season, halve and press to make a tart, crimson juice.

A soft tomato can become tomato juice—just halve and press as you would an orange. The pulp will be left behind, giving you a clear, tomato water to sip.

Easy to Clean

Because there are no screens or complicated parts, this tool is a breeze to clean. The metal juice cup and juicing plate can be rinsed and dried with a soft cloth. The press should be wiped with a wet kitchen towel.

If you’re looking to start drinking fresh juices, the Crofton Juice Press is an affordable tool that gets the job done, but like all Aldi Finds, it’s only available for a short time, so grab one soon.
