The Surprising $2.19 ALDI Find I Can’t Get Enough Of

Growing up in Florida, I had my fair share of Southern cooking. And while regional styles vary from state to state, one thing I picked up early is a deep love for cornbread

Perfect as is, cornbread finds the right balance of savory and sweet, moist and crumbly, and most importantly, it’s especially amazing when slathered with butter. I never turn it down, and I especially love a creative take on a traditional recipe, which brings us to Baker’s Corner Cinnamon Churro Cornbread Mix, a unique twist on the Southern classic now available in ALDI’s Hot Finds section.

ALDI Baker’s Corner Cinnamon Churro Cornbread

  • Price: $2.19 for a 13.5-ounce box
  • Why I Love It: The churro spices work surprisingly in this non-traditional cornbread mix. The instructions are easy to follow, and it bakes up beautifully with a tender, fluffy crumb.

Why I Love ALDI’s Baker’s Corner Cinnamon Churro Cornbread Mix

Available in a 13.5-ounce box for $2.19, this leveled-up cornbread mix boasts easy instructions, undeniable flavor, and a surprisingly delicious approach to the traditional dish that I’ve grown to love. Not only does it taste like churros, it smells like them, too.

The best part? The churro flavor never overpowers the cornbread. You get a sweet, subtle nod to classic churro spices, followed by the familiar taste and texture of good ol’ cornbread.

And making it couldn’t be any easier. After baking at 375°F for roughly 22 to 25 minutes, I let the loaf rest about 5 minutes before cutting it into squares. The cornbread came out perfectly fluffy and moist, with just the right amount of crumble that held together really well. Overall, the texture couldn’t have matched better with the attractive notes of brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg.

How to Enjoy ALDI’s Cinnamon Churro Cornbread Mix

While I stand by my earlier claim that cornbread is perfect as is, that doesn’t mean you can’t get a little creative to take this churro-infused mix to the next level. Add a couple scoops of pistachio ice cream for a nutty, creamy coolness, then dust it with cinnamon and brown sugar.

You can also keep it simple with butter and honey, or enjoy it alongside a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. And if you really want to get creative, bake the mix in a muffin pan, then top each one with vanilla icing, chocolate sprinkles, and a dusting of cinnamon and brown sugar.

But the flavor train doesn’t have to stop there. With a world of flavors at your disposal, how you jazz it up is totally up to you. Think caramel, chocolate, berries, bananas, or even a swipe of cream cheese—churro plays nice with all of them. Whether you go rich and fruity or sweet and tangy, you’ve got options and plenty of flavor to play with.
